Last weekend I flew to DC for a getaway with some besties from college!! Our friend Keighley moved there over the summer and I have been dying to visit! We flew in Thursday and home Sunday, but packed quite a bit into a short amount of time!! The city was absolutely beautiful, not to mention the delicious food. We ate our way through the trip, but quickly walked it off on the way to our next stop! It was tough to do, but I’ve narrow down some of my favorite moments and pictures to share!!
Friday :: Sightseeing
Our day started with a beautiful walk to the capitol with our tour guide Cooper ||her gold retriever – he loved having his aunts in town|| We continued on to the Washington Monument and the rest of the memorials in the National Mall. It was so serene and peaceful!!
That night we went to Old Ebbit Grill for dinner, which happened to be right by the White House. The atmosphere embodied the name to perfection. It was decorated with rich woods and velvet booths, beautiful ‘old school’ vibe. After dinner we made our way next door to POV, the rooftop lounge at the W hotel. It offered breathtaking views of the Washington Monument and White House! Definitely a place to go when you’re in the mood to dress up and grab a cocktail!
Saturday :: Georgetown
We had the most fabulous brunch at Sequoia! Our table was right by the window and we had beautiful views of the Potomac River. Let’s talk about what we really went for though, the delicious food and unlimited mimosas!!! Brunch is hands down my favorite meal and this did not disappoint!! I would highly suggest making a stop here – it’s Saturday and Sunday only!
We spent the rest of the afternoon walking around Georgetown (great shopping!!) and stopped in Town Hall to watch a little football. It was such a cute preppy sports bar! These southern girls fit right in!
Sunday :: White House
First things first, we made our way to Bethesda Bagels. Three girls and five bagels later we had tried quite a few combinations, including the ever popular rainbow bagel – yes it’s as good as it looks! The real winner was the strawberry cream cheese! Made fresh with real strawberries – enough said!
Better late than never we made it to the White House! A stormy Friday afternoon had put a little dent in our schedule, but we couldn’t leave with out seeing the main attraction! Excuse the close ups, getting a good photo in front of the White House is not an easy task!!
