Wrapping up the week and this little mini series with one last post including….leather leggings, the theme of the week! A great legging, when worn properly, is on my list of versatile pieces I truly believe in. Faux leather isn’t for everyone, but don’t knock it till you try it! The fabric variation adds a chic little touch to an otherwise casual outfit, yet can be dressed up without scarfing comfort! Aside from faux leather, a nice thick black legging is a great option! Beyond those, be weary.
So far you’ve seen my leggings with a sweater, silk blouse, and now one of my favorite colors, olive green. I love love love this tunic. You’ve probably seen me wear it multiple times in multiple colors. It’s one that is made year after year, one of the many signs it’s a great top! Currently on sale for under $30 in 12 different colors..you need to check it out! Pair this top with leggings or denim, wear it as is or give it a little “front tuck”, one of my go-to style tricks. No matter how tall you are, tucking in the front of a longer blouse shows off your waist and helps you wear your top, instead of it wearing you. Think of it like a great hair cut. Before you go, your hair feels heavy and blah. But when you walk out of the salon, it feels light and fabulous!
Getting back to the item of the week, let’s talk a few more do’s and don’t of leggings.
Don’t buy anything that doesn’t look like you’re wearing Spanx underneath. A nice legging should be thick enough to smooth where needed and hold everything in place. They should fit snugly, remember you are wearing a piece with quite a bit of spandex, you want them to stay up! Do not wear a print. Aside from other solids here and there, a legging should be black. At the end of the day, just look in the mirror and think to yourself, “would I want to see someone else wearing this?” Leggings can get a bad reputation, but I personally think they’re amazing. Do remember to keep it classy and rock on girl!! I wear my over the knee boots all the time and figured why stop now? So I decided to try them over my leggings. It was fun to mix materials with the suede and leather, and my legs were actually warm! I was in heaven! Not only can you wear them with a heel as styled this week, but they pair wonderfully with a sneaker for an on the go look!
I hope you’ll pick yourself up a pair of fabulous leggings, or go into your closet and see how many outfits you can create with a pair you already own! With tunics, tops, trench coats, blazers, leather jackets, you name it. The possibilities are endless in this season of layers!
